2-story real estate office planned near Aquatic Center

A new, two-story office building planned near the Aquatic Center will be the home to a financial planning business and a real estate agency.

According to Mychal Gorden of Desert Land Group, the building, which is still in the design phase, will house DLG’s office, and its real estate agency, which recently joined Keller-Williams Realty. Desert Land Group is the firm behind projects such as the Havasu Riviera.

The proposed building also will be the new home of Summerlin Financial, Inc., and its associated title agency and asset management group, according to Thompson.

“It’s been vacant there for a long time,” Thompson said. “We (Desert Land Group) worked with developers to help get it rezoned and we’ll believe it will be a great fit for us and Summerlin.

“It’s a really good central location with good visibility from the highway, good exposure and it’s an area we’ve always liked,” Thompson said.

Thompson also said it will give Desert Land Group more space and the ability to showcase what it does.

Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy said the group’s development plans for the Park Avenue property haven’t yet been submitted to the city yet.

Gorden, who is a member of the Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission, recused himself from a vote a year ago when the matter came before the commission. The zoning was changed from “agricultural preservation” to “mixed use general” which allows for commercial use on four acres.

Gorden said he hopes ground will be broken in May or June this year and be moved in to the new facility a year or so from then.

Desert Land Group and Summerlin have partnered before with the creation of Luxe Storage and Locker, used for boats and recreational vehicles.

One of the owners of Summerlin, Adam Pakes, said his company was optimistic about the development because of what he termed “the great location.”

“We believe with the state of the art design that it will be one of the most attractive buildings in Havasu,” Pakes said. “It also signifies our long-term commitment to the area.”

Pakes said Summerlin has done business in Havasu since 2005. He explained that Summerlin’s title and financial services offices would be on the first floor while the asset management company and Desert Land Group’s offices would be on the second floor.

Gorden, who is a partner with Luke Still in Desert Land Group, said there are plans for two other parcels of land on Park Avenue.

“The plans are for a hotel/condo to be on one that would face Rotary Park and we are planning on having a real estate office there in the future,” Gorden said.
