WISHES: Greetings to Tim Wilburn Sr., retired city of Huntington employee, on becoming 65 years young Saturday, March 2. May it be a super day filled with happiness, love and fond memories followed with many more birthdays.

RECOGNIZED: Chris Crigger was recently honored as one of West Virginia’s Outstanding Democrats of the Year by U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin III. He was chosen by local county leaders for hard work and dedication to the Democratic Party in Cabell County.

13: I celebrate another anniversary during the month of March - not a wedding anniversary, mind you. But, the 13th anniversary of my gathering news and writing community news, such as this column, after the late and great Jack Hardin retired from his “About Town” column. My thanks to the readers far and near and for their contributions and submissions of news. I am looking forward to another year with you, so let’s get movin’.

SPEAKER: The Rev. David Richards fills the pulpit Sunday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 6, at Enslow Park Presbyterian Church. This retired pastor with 17 years at Second Presbyterian Church has been a frequent speaker in the past several months.

MUSICAL: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Tony Award-winning musical, “Cinderella,” begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center, as part of Marshall Artists Series. Tickets range from $54 to $85. Contact 304-696-6656 or ticketmaster.com.

OLDEST: And, then there were three children born to Dr. Mitch and Micki Shaver. I had met the younger two twins Adam and Karl Shaver but recently was blessed with seeing the sweet smiles the oldest Erin Shaver who blows out birthday candles, wears the birthday hat and toots the birthday horn Saturday, March 2. May her special day be an enjoyable and blessed event.

SHOW: More than 100 exhibitors, Tri-State Master Gardeners, home and garden experts are featured during the WSAZ Home and Garden Show next weekend at Big Sandy Superstore Arena. The event is from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 8; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 9; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 10. Huntington Garden Club, Bob’s Market and Greenhouse, Green Clovers 4-H Club, Good News Llamas and Little Victories Animal Rescue Group sponsor a Kid’s Adventure Garden with an interactive garden and petting zoo.

CHUCKLE: A tourist was in Cork but wanted to go to Dublin for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. He stopped Paddy in the street and asked him, “Excuse me, can you tell me the quickest way to Dublin?” Paddy said, “Are you on foot or in the car?” The tourist answered, “In the car.” Paddy said, “That’s the quickest way.”
