New DAV members ready to serve

Staff WriterMay 20, 2019

MICHIGAN CITY – The Disabled American Veterans chapter in Michigan City has two new members – Bruce and Bella, 5-month-old AKC registered German Shepherd pups.

The dogs were donated by Tiffany Bradley of Bristol, Indiana, who contacted Lynn Swanson, State Commander of the DAV Auxiliary and La Porte County deputy coroner, because she wanted to help a veteran who needed a service dog.

Swanson began to put a plan in motion and it started with finding a trainer for the pups. “As State Commander, the project is to donate through fundraisers to Patriot Paws, a non-profit organization in Texas that trains service dogs, so this was a project close to my heart,” she said.
