Pelham Man Charged with Overnight Car Break-ins
PELHAM -- A nighttime prowler was captured after a string of vehicle break-ins during the overnight hours Saturday, police say.
James Freeman, 51, of Pelham, charged with receiving stolen property, is responsible for the break-ins of more than 10 vehicles, according to a Pelham Police Department press release.
Pelham police received their first call about the break-ins on Atwood Road around 7:25 a.m., police said. Throughout the morning hours, officers responded to more than 10 other homes in the area experiencing similar thefts.
Around 11:30 a.m., a suspect matching the description of the prowler was spotted wearing all black clothing in the area of Dutton Road. The man, determined to be Freeman, was found in possession of numerous items identified in the reported thefts, police said.
Freeman was taken into custody and was awaiting bail Saturday afternoon at the Pelham Police Department, police said.
An investigation is continuing.
