Wolves 6, Gulls 4
ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) _ The Chicago Wolves scored two goals 20 seconds apart in the beginning of the third period Wednesday to beat the San Diego Gulls 6-4 in an International Hockey League game.
San Diego (16-18-4) took an early lead on Larry DePalma’s goal 32 seconds into the contest. Ed Courtenay evened it at 1-1 with his 11:42 goal for the Wolves (16-15-7).
The Gulls pulled ahead at 14:42 with a power-play score by Hubie McDonough. Courtenay again tied it for the Wolves at 17:28 with a power play score.
At 14:52 in the second period, McDonough got a second goal to give the Gulls a 3-2 advantage. But the Wolves tied it at 3-3 with a Todd Harkin goal at with 1:36 remaining in the second period.
In the first minute of the third period, the Gulls’ Al Secord scored 18 seconds into the period. Twenty seconds later, Tim Breslin gave the Wolves a 5-3 lead.
San Diego got their final goal from Anatoli Fedotov on a power play with 1:40 remaining. Steve Maltais ended the game with a score with six seconds remaining in the game.
The Gulls outshot the Wolves 33-23.
