Performers Added To Grammy Show
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Destiny’s Child, Dolly Parton and ’N Sync have been added to the list of performers on Grammy night. But Eminem, one of the most talked about nominees, still hasn’t been confirmed.
Michael Greene, president of the Recording Academy, told The Associated Press on Monday that negotiations are ongoing to determine whether the 28-year-old rapper would appear at the ceremony. A representative for the rapper also confirmed talks.
The show will be broadcast live Feb. 21 on CBS.
There have been protests over Eminem’s four nominations, including album of the year for ``The Marshall Mathers LP.″ Eminem’s violent lyrics against gays and women have been criticized, but ``The Marshall Mathers LP″ was last year’s second-best selling disc.
``The fact is that CBS doesn’t get a vote, the organizations who are expressing concern don’t get a vote in terms of whether he performs,″ Greene said.
Other Grammy performers or presenters confirmed Monday: Brad Paisley, Erykah Badu, Ray Romano and Carlos Santana. Madonna and U2 have already agreed to perform.
