Bridgeport pursuit ends with 3 in custody, 2 guns recovered
BRIDGEPORT — Three people were taken into custody and two guns recovered after a pursuit Tuesday night, according to dispatch reports.
The vehicle apparently matched the description of vehicle involved in a shots fired incident in the city Monday, reports indicated.
Police started to pursue the car on Route 8/25, then the driver got onto Interstate 95 north. Bridgeport police called off the pursuit, but troopers jumped in and started to pursue it shortly after 7 p.m.
The car got off Exit 29 from the highway and crashed, troopers said over the radio waves. But the driver continued on and troopers said speeds during the pursuit on city streets hovered around 35 mph.
The pursuit lasted a few minutes once it hit city streets. The driver ultimately crashed near the intersection of Noble and Crescent avenues around 7:15 p.m., reports indicated.
After the driver crashed, troopers said there were three people in custody and that two firearms had been recovered.
