Mad Ants’ Moore could be commodity

November 10, 2018

Ben Moore looked nothing short of excellent in his return to the Mad Ants, putting up 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds tonight at Memorial Coliseum.

Also excellent was Edmond Sumner with 22 points in the Mad Ants’ 116-111 victory over the Erie BayHawks.

So how long will Moore, who was released by the NBA’s Indiana Pacers last week, be here? Especially now that he can be grabbed by any NBA team?

“I don’t know how much longer we’ll have Ben, to be honest with you,” Mad Ants coach Steve Gansey said. “He’s a great player. He just makes things happen. He can attack. He can go off the bounce. He made a 3 for us tonight. He just does a lot of things and he’s a winner, and you just want winners on the floor. He just makes things happen.”

And let’s not forget the hustle he brings!

I asked Moore about Gansey’s comments and he said: “That means a lot coming from him but that’s something I can’t pay attention to. I’ve just got to pay attention to playing, but I appreciate that he said that.”

As for what he came away from his time with the Pacers with, Moore said: “A lot of lessons. A lot of different reads offensively. A lot of different things I can work on defensively that I saw from playing on the perimeter. Yeah, I learned a lot up there.”
