No. 22 Texas A&M Advances at Big 12
DALLAS (AP) _ Freshman Takia Starks scored 22 points to help No. 22 Texas A&M beat Nebraska 73-64 Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the women’s Big 12 tournament.
Morenike Atunrase added 21 points and Danielle Gant had 16 rebounds for the Aggies (23-7), who will face No. 10 Baylor in Thursday’s semifinals.
Kiera Hardy had 28 points to lead Nebraska (17-12). Kelsey Griffin scored 15 and TK LaFleur added 10.
The Cornhuskers pulled to 43-41 before the Aggies put together a 19-8 run midway through the second half for a 62-49 lead. Starks scored seven points the spurt.
Texas A&M maintained at least a seven-point lead the rest of the way, converting 10 of its last 11 free throws.
The Aggies went 17-for-30 from the field in the second half and finished with a 47-30 rebounding edge.
Nebraska took a 29-27 lead on Hardy’s basket with 8 seconds left in the first half, giving her 16 at the break.
