South Carolina man faces attempted murder charge
BLACKSBURG, S.C. (AP) — Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller says a man has been arrested in a shooting near Blacksburg.
The Herald-Journal reports 64-year-old Mickey Dean Bailey was arrested around 1 a.m. Thursday on an attempted murder charge. He posted $50,000 bond and was released Friday from the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Mueller’s office said investigators believe the victim, Jerry Darryl Hagan, went to a home looking for his wife Tuesday around 7:45 p.m. While there, investigators said Hagan got into a fight with his brother-in-law, leaving him injured. Deputies said Hagan went to the door of the residence, knocked and got no response.
The sheriff’s office says as Hagan walked back toward his vehicle, Bailey allegedly shot him at least five times.
Hagan has since been released from Spartanburg Medical Center.
