CLEVELAND (AP) _ Cavaliers rookie guard Dajuan Wagner was to have an operation Tuesday to remove a blood clot.

The sixth overall pick in the draft hasn’t played during the preseason because of a bladder infection. The blood clot was found Monday during medical tests.

He has been in the hospital for a week.

The team said the operation should speed up Wagner’s recovery, although it has not been determined when he will return to the lineup. The regular season opens next week.

Wagner, the son of former NBA player Milt Wagner, averaged 21.2 points in his one college season at Memphis.
