Britain Beats India, Argentina Tops South Africa
ATLANTA (AP) _ Three second-period goals gave Britain a 4-3 win over India for seventh place in men’s Olympic field hockey Thursday.
Argentina downed South Africa 3-2 in the ninth-place match.
Goals by Britain’s Jason Laslett, Jon Wyatt and Chris Mayer erased India’s 2-1 lead. India’s goals were by Baljit Singh Dhillon and Baljeet Singh in the first half and Pargat Singh Powar with 39 seconds left in the game.
Argentina’s winner was scored by Jorge Lombi, a penalty corner goal in the 25th minute of the second period. South Africa had tied the score in the 32nd minute on Matthew Hollowes’ field goal.
