High school band trumpets recovery of stolen trailer, truck

November 6, 2017

ATHENS, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama high school band that had $225,000 worth of equipment stolen hours after they swept a competition will soon be reunited with the truck and trailer that were missing.

WHNT-TV reports that East Limestone High School’s band director, Jennifer Janzen, posted on Facebook late Sunday that a deputy spotted the truck and trailer in Birmingham after several people shared her initial post. The band’s truck and trailer were stolen Saturday night from a hotel lot in Birmingham, where the band was staying after winning Best in Show at the 40th annual West Alabama Marching Competition in Gordo.

Janzen says she plans to do inventory Monday morning, and the deputy said everything appeared to be accounted for in the 24-foot (7-meter) trailer.

It is unclear if there are any suspects.
