Rockets’ Willis May Go to Raptors
HOUSTON (AP) _ Kevin Willis, who played a key role for the Houston Rockets last season, will be traded to the Toronto Raptors for a second time, according to a broadcast report today. The first time, the deal fell through.
KRIV-TV of Houston reported today that a deal was imminent that would send Willis to Raptors for the 16th and 18th picks in the first round of the June 24th draft.
Willis was one of the Rockets’ steadiest performers last season. He started 74 regular season games and averaged 16.1 points and 8.4 rebounds. He is scheduled to earn $1.8 million this season.
Rockets officials declined comment on the report.
Willis was involved in a regular season trade with the Raptors that would have sent guard Damon Stoudamire to the Rockets. That deal fell apart and Stoudamire eventually was traded to Portland.
