Yuletide Lights on the Prairie to open Dec. 7

December 6, 2018

GERING — Legacy of the Plains Museum would like to announce its upcoming Christmas event, Yuletide Lights on the Prairie, on Friday, Dec. 7, from 5-8 p.m.

Staff and volunteers have been stringing up Christmas lights all over the Main Exhibit Hall. The main exhibit lights will go off at 5 p.m. and the Christmas lights will come on shortly afterward. There will be enough light to light the way.

Voting for the Trees Along the Trail will also take place in this family-friendly after hours event. Vote tickets are $1 each. Fifty cents will benefit the organization; the other 50 cents will benefit the museum. Voting continues until 4 p.m. on Dec. 21. Trees with the top three highest amounts will win a cash prize, sponsored by H&R Block. The tree that wows the board president will receive the president’s award.

Refreshments will be served in the museum’s lobby. The gift shop will also be open late and offer some deals for last-minute holiday shoppers.

Museum admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth 6 to 18, and under 5 is free. Membership discounts do not apply for this fundraising event.

This event will be the first three Fridays of December: Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. On Dec. 21, prize ribbons will be awarded to the top placing trees.

During this event and the rest of December, Legacy of the Plains is offering $5 off memberships for any new members.
