Jacob Connor Cole, 25, Herscher Class of 2011 and Illinois State University Class of 2015, departed his family and friends on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 2018, in Jacksonville, Fla.
Most would say he wasn’t quite a saint, but all would agree he made the lives better of everyone he met, his family said. His heart was filled with nothing but love and compassion for friends, family and the occasional stranger who was in need of an uplifting spirit. He had a passion for the outdoors and working with his hands, especially if he was in the company of others. His favorite places were on the football field with his brother, in the canoe with his father, in the garage with friends and in the arms of his mother. It can proudly be said Jacob made a lasting impression on all of those around him. His hugs, sense of humor and mischievous endeavors will never be forgotten.
Jacob was born Nov. 16, 1992, in Kankakee, the son of Thomas and Susette Cole.
He was an assistant project manager II at The Haskell Company in Jacksonville, Fla. Prior to that, he was an engineer with Kiewit, in Oahu, Hawaii.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Tom and Susette Cole, of Kankakee; his twin brother, Steven Cole (Maegan Vines), of Jacksonville, Fla.; his grandmother, Shirley Ulrich, of VanBuren, Ark.; aunts and uncles, Joe and Bibiana Ulrich, of Bourbonnais, Don and Jeanette Macpeek, of Alma, Ark., Joe and Joyce Cole, of Pontiac, and Rob and Brenda Cole, of Wheatfield, Ind.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Fred J. Ulrich; and paternal grandparents, Marie and Joe Cole.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel. Prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m. Private internment will be at a later date.
