Unlocking Your Dreams Empowerment Expo coming soon

BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. – Embrace and Love Beyond Bars, two local nonprofits, will hold the second annual Unlocking Your Dreams Empowerment Expo 2018 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Bennettsville Community Center.

The center is at 714 N. Marlboro St. in Bennettsville.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Love Beyond Bars is an organization that helps the families of people convicted of crimes and sentenced to jail.

Speakers will be Jenice Green, Nena Staley, Gloria Glisson, Bishop R. Christopher Brown III and Lester Young.

The expo will feature:

>> A job fair.

>> Expungement services.

>> A soft-skill clinic (resume building, interviewing skills, etc.).

>> Workshops for children.

>> Seminars.

>> Children’s activities.

>> Vendors.

>> Resources.

>> Voter registration/education services.

“This event will help those that were affected by incarceration, and their families have a second chance to gain employment, learn pro social skills, soft skills, gain resources and become contributing members of society,” said LaShonda NeSmith-Jackson, the vice president of Love Beyond Bars.
