Fitchburg Man Arraigned Thursday for Aggravated Child Rape
FITCHBURG -- A 43-year-old man who allegedly raped a child last month faces multiple charges including indecent assault and battery, according to court documents.
A judge set the bail for Ariel Maldonado, of 25 Belli Ave., at $25,000 cash or $250,000 surety at his Thursday arraignment. The Fitchburg man was also ordered not to have contact with any child under the age of 16.
During a Wednesday forensic interview with investigators, the victim said between March 2014 and November 2018, Maldonado sexually assaulted her, according to court documents.
The victim said Maldonado showed her photos on his phone of inappropriate sexual images, according to court documents.
He has a prior rape conviction from 2010, court documents indicated.
Maldonado faces seven charges including two charges of assault and battery on a child under 14, two charges of aggravated rape of a child with a 5-year age difference, two charges of rape as a subsequent offense, and possession or dissemination of obscene matter to a minor for the recent incidents.
His next court date in Fitchburg is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 17.
