Faith Regional names its new president, CEO

September 23, 2018

Faith Regional Health Services removed the interim tag from Kelly Driscoll’s title on Friday.

Driscoll, who for the second time had been serving as the president and interim CEO of the Norfolk hospital, was named by the Faith Regional Health Services board of directors and the Lutheran Community Hospital Association as the president and chief executive officer on Friday.

“I look forward to building on the already strong reputation of Faith Regional by working collaboratively with our exceptional boards, employees, medical staff, community leaders and members to find ways to make the region even healthier as we face the health care challenges of today and the future,” Driscoll said Friday.

In early August, Mark Klosterman resigned from the position.

Driscoll joined Faith Regional in 2011 as vice president of patient care services. In 2012, she received the distinguished certification as a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Driscoll became senior vice president and chief operating officer in 2013 and served as Faith Regional’s interim president and CEO in 2014 before Klosterman took over.

Driscoll brings 23 years of health care experience to this position, including more than 20 years of senior leadership experience.

She earned her registered nurse degree at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, Iowa, a bachelor’s in business administration from Hamilton Business College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and her master’s in health care administration from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was also named among the 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by Becker’s Hospital Review.

“Kelly has been a true asset to Faith Regional over the past seven years,” said John Dinkel, Faith Regional Health Services’ board chairman.

“She’s been instrumental to the organization’s growth of services, recruitment and quality achievements. Her wealth of knowledge and experience will lead Faith Regional to continued success as a regional partner providing high-quality health care close to home.”

Craig Boche, president of the Lutheran Community Hospital Association, said the board strongly supports Driscoll in her new role.

“Recognized by leaders in other health care systems in the Midwest as a rising star in the industry, she has the right combination of abilities to lead an independent health care organization like FRHS. We are fortunate to have Kelly’s leadership and look forward to a long relationship with the organization and community,” Boche said.

“Kelly Driscoll is an experienced health care executive with a long-standing commitment to Faith Regional Health Services and the community,” said Dr. Maryanne Hartzell, cardiologist at Faith Regional CardioVascular Institute.

“She is a strong leader with a talent for problem solving and team building. She has a clear vision for growth and unification of our health care community to improve the health and well-being of patients throughout Northeast Nebraska,” Hartzell said.

Dr. Leon Gebhardt, pediatrician at Heartland Pediatrics, said, “I have had the opportunity and pleasure to work with Kelly Driscoll on several occasions over the past number of years. I look forward to her leadership at Faith Regional and to continuing to improve the quality and affordability of health care for Northeast Nebraska.

“Mrs. Driscoll is thoughtful, affable and patient centric,” said Dr. Zackary Gangwer, foot and ankle specialist at Faith Regional Physician Services Foot & Ankle Surgery.

“Her clinical experience gives her a solid foundation of putting the patient first. Mrs. Driscoll’s service at Faith Regional Health Services and to our community over the last seven years makes her well-equipped to lead further advancements and healthcare opportunities for patients in the region,” he said.

Driscoll and her husband, Jason, have three children.
