December 5, 2018

Lowell Sun

It’s Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018. Here is some of what Sun staffers and other news providers are working on for lowellsun.com and Thursday’s edition.

Reporter Rick Sobey, rsobey@lowelsun.com, is at the Lowell School

Committee, during which committee members are expected to address the

School Department’s serious budget crunch.

Reporter Kori Tuitt, ktuitt@lowellsun.com, is at Lowell General

Hospital to cover the first public unveiling of the hospital’s

elaborate gift baskets to benefit Sun Santa. Raffle tickets are now

available and will be drawn Dec. 14 at 3 p.m.

Of course The Sun will have the latest from Washington D.C., where

VIPS from around the world have gathered to say their last farewells

to the recently deceased George H.W. Bush, the nation’s 41st

president.

In Dracut, Reporter Amaris Castillo, acastillo@lowellsun.com, has a

story about the School Department’s plan to build a new multi-use

athletic facility off Lakeview Avenue.

Reporter Aaron Curtis, acurtis@lowellsun.com, was at UMass Lowell

Tuesday night, when the university unveiled a new effort to document

the Southeast Asian community’s history in Greater Lowell dating back

decades.
