SANTA FE, N.M. — A consortium that will soon take over management of Los Alamos National Laboratory will pay gross receipts taxes, easing previous concerns that millions of dollars in revenue could evaporate due to the contractor’s nonprofit status. UPCOMING: 400 words.


— THREATENED SNAKES-HABITAT: Environmentalists are threatening to sue the U.S. government in an effort to set aside hundreds of square miles of habitat they say is necessary for the survival of the northern Mexican garter snake and the narrow-headed garter snake.

— OPIOID LAWSUIT-NEW MEXICO: An eastern New Mexico county is the latest to sue over the opioid crisis. Lawyers for Roosevelt County filed the challenge this week in U.S. District Court against numerous pharmaceutical companies and distributors.

— TINDER AFFAIR-LAWSUIT: A massage therapist is suing a New Mexico man and woman over allegations the couple harassed her after she had an affair with the man she met on the dating app Tinder.
