Tigers Put Easley on 15-Day DL
DETROIT (AP) _ Second baseman Damion Easley was put on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday by the Detroit Tigers because of a pulled left oblique muscle.
The injury, which had kept Easley out of six games from April 7-14, was aggravated in Tuesday night’s 9-3 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Detroit’s first of the season. Easley left in the eighth inning after fouling off a pitch. He fell after taking the swing, but was able to walk off the field.
The Tigers recalled outfielder Craig Monroe from Triple-A Toledo to fill Easley’s spot on the roster.
Monroe was batting .319 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 13 games for the Mud Hens. He was optioned to Toledo on March 15.
