CONGRESS-GREEN NEW DEAL
WASHINGTON _ Democrats including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York are calling for a Green New Deal intended to transform the U.S. economy to combat climate change and create thousands of jobs in renewable energy. The freshman lawmaker is teaming up with veteran Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts on the plan, which aims to eliminate the U.S. carbon footprint by 2030. By Matthew Daly. _ DEER POACHING _ A 62-year-old man has been charged with poaching more than 100 deer in northern Wyoming.
_ WYOMING WEATHER _ Dangerously cold weather is hitting Wyoming, with wind chill readings lower than 40 below zero recorded in some areas. Some of the coldest spots were in southeastern Wyoming.
_ BISON-GRAND TETON _ A herd of bison in northwest Wyoming will be moved to new rangeland because they have gored multiple horses on private land within Grand Teton National Park.
_ YELLOWSTONE-VISITATION _ Yellowstone National Park had its third-busiest year on record with more than 4.1 million visitors last year. The park in Wyoming had about 1,500 fewer visitors in 2018 than in 2017.
INDIANAPOLIS _ The Indianapolis Colts have rehired Howard Mudd as a senior offensive assistant. Coach Frank Reich also announced Thursday that Klayton Adams, Wyoming’s offensive coordinator, will be Indy’s new assistant offensive line coach and Marcus Brady has been promoted from assistant quarterbacks coach to quarterbacks coach.
