Accused of misconduct, elementary school principal resigns
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee elementary school principal has resigned after district officials say they received an unspecified complaint of inappropriate conduct.
WTVF-TV reports Lance High resigned as principal of Smith Springs Elementary School in Nashville. Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools representative Dawn Rutledge said High resigned on Tuesday, one day after he was placed on administrative leave.
In an email to Smith Springs Elementary School staff, High said he had been dealing with deeply intense, personal issues. High wrote he needs more counseling and therapy.
Details of the allegations are unknown. Documents obtained by WTVF-TV found High was reprimanded in August 2015 for sending inappropriate text messages to a teacher. The documents show the district received another complaint about High last year, but an investigation found his behavior did not constitute sexual harassment.
