Tanglewood attendance up 4.5 percent in 2014
LENOX, Mass. (AP) — Attendance at Tanglewood rose 4.5 percent for the summer season that ended last weekend.
Officials say 332,536 patrons attended the summer series.
There were three sellouts at the 18,000-seat venue, with James Taylor accounting for two and the third for a John Williams Film Night with the Boston Pops. A Boston Symphony Orchestra concert with cellist Yo-Yo Ma and a show by the rock group Train also was popular.
Managing Director Mark Volpe told The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/1lF3rKn ) that Tanglewood exceeded its attendance goals.
The best two years for attendance were in 1997 and 1998.
Tanglewood in Lenox is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The BSO plans to announce next summer’s season in November.
