February 14, 1998

CLEVELAND (AP) _ In a movie about trouble at home, it can help to have your star come from your own hometown.

Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas is scheduled to start shooting his movie ``Male Pattern Baldness″ in May, and he wants fellow Clevelander Drew Carey to be the lead.

``I think we have a good shot of getting him,″ Eszterhas said in Saturday’s Akron Beacon Journal.

The Paramount Pictures film, which is to be shot here, is about a man trying to cope with a failing marriage. It’s directed by Betty Thomas, who made Howard Stern’s ``Private Parts.″ Eszterhas’ last movie, the semi-autobiographical ``Telling Lies in America,″ was also shot in Cleveland in August 1996.

``I love the idea of Drew, Betty and I working on this together,″ he said.
