Japan forward Kakitani ends time at Basel to rejoin Ozaka
BASEL, Switzerland (AP) — Swiss champion Basel says Japan forward Yoichiro Kakitani has returned home to rejoin former club Cerezo Ozaka.
Basel confirmed the move on its website without disclosing details of the transfer.
The 26-year-old Kakitani failed to establish himself at Basel in an 18-month spell under two coaches.
Kakitani played just four league games, scoring one goal, this season as Basel leads and is favored to win a seventh straight title.
Basel also confirmed the signing of Sweden Under-21 international midfielder Alexander Fransson from newly crowned champion Norrkoping.
Basel says the 21-year-old Fransson signed a contract through June 2020.
