DeWitt man dies following Thursday morning crash

A DeWitt man died following a rollover crash early Thursday morning.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, authorities responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash east of the intersection of West Elm Road and North Blue Ridge Drive.

The vehicle was eastbound on Elm Road and driven by Paul Baehr, 44, of DeWitt.

According to a press release from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. Baehr was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled and landed under the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed he died instantly from injuries sustained in the accident.

Baehr was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is considered a factor in the accident. The case is still under investigation.

DeWitt Fire & Rescue, Beatrice Rural Fire, Beatrice Fire & Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, Saline County Sheriff’s Office and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash.
