JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — A driver convicted of causing a multivehicle crash that left a teacher and his 6-year-old daughter dead has been sentenced to 37 years in prison.

A jury convicted Scott Hahn of aggravated manslaughter and other offenses in March.

Timothy and Bridget O’Donnell of Bayonne were rear-ended by the 39-year-old Hamilton Township resident in February 2016 as they slowed while approaching a toll plaza on the westbound New Jersey Turnpike’s Hudson County Extension

Their car was forced into the eastbound lane, where another vehicle hit it.

Hudson County prosecutors presented evidence at Hahn’s trial that he was driving 53 mph in a 5-mph zone and was under the influence of drugs.

The 39-year-old was sentenced to consecutive 16-year terms on the manslaughter counts plus five additional years on drug counts.
