ECU chancellor picks task force to examine Greek suspensions
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The chancellor of East Carolina University has appointed a task force to look into recent sanctiions against the school’s fraternities and sororities.
WITN-TV in Greenville reports Chancellor Cecil Staton appointed a 16-member task force made up of alumni, faculty, community leaders and students.
The panel will look at major aspects of Greek life at ECU, identify and consider nationally recognized best practices and offer recommendations to strengthen the community on campus.
Five fraternities have closed at the school. Last weekend, the Alpha Phi sorority was suspended indefinitely for unspecified reasons.
A final report is expected by Dec. 14.
