Friends of West U Parks Fund announces new officers

Friends of West University Place Parks Fund, Inc. has announced a new slate of officers.

Sami Morrison is replacing Mark Prescott as chair; Michelle Huth is the vice chair; Peyton Popp is the secretary; and Christine Parker will continue in her role as the treasurer. All were voted in at the Sept. 12 Friends Board of Directors meeting.

Mark Prescott joined the Friends board in August 2013 and was elected chair in September 2014. Under his leadership, Friends raised $2,555,614.

West University Place Mayor Susan Sample presented him with a Star Citizen award in appreciation for his service to the community. Prescott will remain on the board as co-chair of the annual Party on the Patio Concert Series.

Morrison was appointed to the board in October 2015. She served as the Park Lovers’ Ball co-chair in 2017 and will be a Fathers & Flashlights co-chair in 2019 and 2020.

Huth has been on the board since April 2012 and served as Party on the Patio Concert co-chair and helped with the Friends stork project. She will be a Fathers & Flashlights co-chair for 2019 and 2020.

Popp was appointed to the Friends board in March 2018 and was the Park Lovers’ Ball co-chair in 2017.

Parker joined the Friends board in September 2013 and continues to serve as treasurer.

“It is an honor to work with such great leaders and dedicated people on Friends projects. I look forward to working with our new officers and the Friends board in the coming years,” said Donna LaMond, Friends Executive Director.
