Russian Jet Crashes at Air Show
LE BOURGET, France (AP) _ A Russian fighter plane crashed Saturday during a demonstration at the official opening of the 43rd Paris Air Show. No injuries were reported, officials said.
The two pilots of the Sukhoi-30 safely ejected when the jet went down in an area that was away from crowds, officials said. Further details were not immediately available.
The accident occurred hours after French President Jacques Chirac inaugurated the weeklong air show _ the world’s largest _ on a day reserved for the media.
The air show, held every two years at this airport north of Paris, opens to the public Sunday.
