Fla. Murder Suspect Holds Hostages
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ A man suspected of killing a store clerk was holding up to six people hostage in a house Saturday, including two juveniles, authorities said
The suspect, Jamie Petron, reportedly shot a third juvenile, who was released around 2:30 p.m. No other details were immediately available.
Petron, 41, is accused of ramming a deputy sheriff’s vehicle in Orange County and shooting a deputy in the leg, authorities said.
Petron is a suspect in the slaying of Jorge Trillos, 22, during a Pompano Beach convenience store robbery on Friday. Trillos’ boss, Samir Hantash, 48, was seriously wounded.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department SWAT officials have surrounded the house where Petron fled. The standoff began around noon.
Public records show that Petron was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 1986 for attempted first-degree murder, forgery and battery on a law enforcement officer. He was released from prison on Dec. 10, 1995.
