Sazón to reopen in two or three weeks after fire
Fire damage Sunday at the Sazón restaurant was limited to an upstairs office and storage area, and the eatery is expected to reopen in two or three weeks, a spokeswoman said.
Shannon Collins, public relations manager for the Mexican and New World cuisine restaurant on Shelby Street, said she didn’t know whether the fire’s cause had been determined. The city fire marshal did not return a message seeking comment Monday.
“That’s all we know at the moment,” Collins said of the plans for reopening the business. “Basically, we were lucky that there was minimal damage.”
The fire started sometime before 10 a.m. Sunday, apparently in the office on the upper level, Santa Fe Fire Department battalion Chief Freddie Martinez said.
Sazón, which opened in September 2015, is one of only three AAA Four Diamond restaurants in New Mexico, all of them located in Santa Fe. The others are Geronimo and Terra at Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe.
