HS ROUNDUP: Gregory, Lennon Lead Crusaders To Semis

Logan Gregory and Joey Lennon won their singles matches in straight sets to lead Holy Cross to 3-2 win over Wyoming Area in a District 2 Class 2A second-round boys tennis match Thursday.

The Crusaders will play Wyoming Seminary in the semifinals Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Kirby Park.

Singles: Logan Gregory (HC) over Mike Remley, 6-1, 6-0; Joey Lennon (HC) over Luke Warunek, 6-0, 6-0; Nick Perry (WA) over Ryan Huester, 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Doubles: Mike Abramovach-Jake Butwin (WA) over Joey Liuzzo-Sang Nguyen, 6-2, 6-2; Dom Arbie-Thomas Parise (HC) over Patrick Musinski-Adam Wisnewski, 6-1, 1-6, 6-0.

Wyoming Seminary 4, Dunmore 1

At Wyoming Seminary, Will Ziegler and Jerry Tang won their singles matches in straight sets to lead the Blue Knights to a second-round win.

David Day won at No. 3 singles for Dunmore.

At Kingston, Carlo Possanza and Kevin Duffy won their singles matches in straight sets to lead Valley View to a second-round win.

Valley View will play the winner of Scranton Prep and Dallas in the other semifinal Tuesday at Kirby Park. The Scranton Prep/Dallas match was postponed because of rain and will be played Saturday at 9 a.m.

At Birchwood, Harsh Patel and Mit Patel won their singles matches in straight sets to lead No. 3 Scranton to a District 2 Class 3A first-round win.

Scranton will play Williamsport in the semifinals Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Kirby Park. Williamsport defeated Wyoming Valley West, 5-0, in the first round.

Singles: Camus Howie (SCR) vs. John Squatrito (WAL) 6-7 (2), 6-4, halted; Harsh Patel (SCR) over Thomas Wagner, 6-1, 6-0; Mit Patel (SCR) over Matt Katz, 6-1, 6-4.

17 kills to lead Western Wayne to a 3-1 win over Mountain View in a Lackawanna League match.

Jake Ortola had 10 kills and five aces for the Wildcats and Caleb Hoch had 33 assists.

Preston Petts had eight kills for Mountain View and Ethan Mack had five kills and eight assists.
