West Side Memorial Day Parade

The annual West Side Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Market Street and Wyoming Avenue, Kingston. Parade route follows Wyoming Avenue to the Forty Fort Cemetery, where a program will be held. Grand marshal for this year’s parade is Matthew F. Ford. He was born in Luzerne, moved to Courtdale in 1946, attended Luzerne High School in 1954, and joined the Air Force in August 1956. He served in Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma, Laos and Thailand in the following units: Pacific Air Command, Military Airlift Command, Air Defense Command, Strategic Air Command, 606 Air Commando Squadron and Tactical Air Command. He served his country in the Air Force from 1956-1976, and in August 1976, he retired at the rank of technical sergeant. He is a member of the Kingston American Legion.
