Spring-area realtors hosting dog adoption, fundraiser to benefit Magnolia animal shelter

October 3, 2018

The Homes for Dogs Project found forever homes for over 20,000 adoptable dogs during its inaugural year.

Homes for Dogs is a campaign to help find adoptive families for homeless dogs. Coldwell Banker Real Estate partnered with Adopt-a-Pet.com to bring about this initiative.

Now in its fifth year, Coldwell Banker locations across the United States and Canada are preparing for the fifth annual Homes for Dogs National Adoption Weekend event set for Saturday, Oct. 13.

Coldwell Banker United Realtors at Champions are among the locations participating in the adoption event. They will be hosting their event at their location in Spring from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The point of Homes for Dogs is for Coldwell Banker locations to coordinate yearly with a nearby shelter to provide them with support and resources,” said Margarita Hurcadi, office administrator for Coldwell Banker at Champions. “Each year, we host a fundraiser adoption event to get dogs adopted and raise enough funds and resources to help a local shelter with daily care, supplies and food needs.”

Their location partners with the Abandoned Animal Rescue in Magnolia.

Abandoned Animal Rescue plans to bring three adoptable dogs to the event.

A list of requested supply donations can be found on the Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS-Champions Facebook page. Hotdog plates with chips and a drink will be available for $5. Proceeds from the hotdog plates as well as any additional donations will benefit the Abandoned Animal Rescue.

“I feel it’s a good way to give back to the community,” Hurcadi said. “Over the years we’ve helped people find homes and we want to help dogs find homes too. Pets are a part of the family for some people and we want to be able to bring them together.”

Coldwell Banker United Realtors at Champions is located at 18425 Champion Forest Drive in Spring.
