December 3, 2018

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 3, 2018--Today, The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable patient assistance foundation that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs, announced the launch of a new copay assistance program for Bladder Cancer. The program is designed to help qualified individuals pay for the out-of-pocket costs associated with their Bladder Cancer medications.

In 2017 there were about 81,000 new cases of Bladder Cancer in the United States; it is the fourth most common cancer in men and men are four times more likely than women to develop Bladder Cancer. 1 Bladder Cancer occurs as a result of uncontrollable cell growth in the urinary bladder, which forms tumors and can spread to other areas of the body. 2 The most common type of Bladder Cancer is urothelial carcinoma, also known as transitional cell carcinoma (TCC), which starts in the urothelial cells that line the urinary tract. The tumors may form in parts of the urinary tract in addition to the bladder, including the kidneys and ureters. 2

“We hope this program will help people living with Bladder Cancer feel a sense of relief knowing they may be eligible to receive assistance for their medication’s out-of-pocket costs,” said Mark P. McGreevy, President and CEO, The Assistance Fund. “At The Assistance Fund, we work hard every day to make sure patients can access the medications they need without worrying about the cost.”

There are a number of treatment options available for Bladder Cancer, such as surgery, intravesical therapy, immunotherapy or chemotherapy. 3
