Northwestern theater students perform with Scottish actors
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Members of Northwestern University’s American Music Theatre Project are planning to perform again with students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in musicals linked by themes at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe .
The collaborations this year are “Legacy: A Mother’s Song” and “Legacy: The Book of Names.” They will explore how culture and heritage travels and evolves over distance and time.
The productions are written and directed by American Music Theatre Project alumni. They will be performed in repertory by students from both institutions Aug. 3-26.
“Legacy: A Mother’s Song” explores the complexity of family structures and the challenges of parenthood. “Legacy: The Book of Names” is set on Ellis Island and covers moments of crisis and change while passing through the immigration system.
