Vanderbilt Suspends QB Cutler

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler was suspended from the team Monday night for an unspecified violation of team rules.

The indefinite suspension of the redshirt freshman was announced by coach Bobby Johnson.

Also suspended indefinitely was reserve wide receiver Grant Brigham.

Cutler, the starting quarterback, had completed 53 of 99 passes for six TDS and 720 yards. He also had six interceptions and had rushed for 205 yards.

Brigham had three receptions for 39 yards. He has returned six punts for 28 yards.

Vanderbilt (1-4) has an open date this weekend. The next game is Oct. 12 in Nashville against Middle Tennessee.
