Jets Send Yarborough To Packers For Draft Pick
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) _ The New York Jets traded wide receiver Ryan Yarborough to the Green Bay Packers today for a conditional undisclosed draft choice in 1997.
Yarborough, the Jets’ second-round draft pick in 1994 out of Wyoming, left training camp last week, saying he was frustrated and was considering leaving football and going into private business.
Yarborough played in 16 games last season, catching 18 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He set or tied five NCAA records playing at Wyoming, finishing his college career with 229 receptions for 4,357 yards and 42 touchdowns.
The Jets have an abundance of wide receivers.
Their top two draft picks last April were wide receivers, Keyshawn Johnson amd Alex Van Dyke.
The Jets signed unrestricted free agent wide receivers Jeff Graham and Rico Smith in the offseason. They also have Wayne Chrebet, who was the second-leading receiver in the NFL last year with 66 catches for 726 yards and four touchdowns.
