Husker soccer team scores first, finishes with 1-1 draw at Ohio State
Nebraska scored first but gave up a second-half goal and played Ohio State to a 1-1 draw in Big Ten soccer Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.
Husker senior Faith Carter converted on a giveaway in the 25th minute to put the Huskers up 1-0. It was Carter’s team-leading eighth goal of the season.
The Huskers took that lead into halftime.
Ohio State’s Izzy Rodriguez tied the score in the 58th minute, bending in a left-footed corner kick from the right side that Husker goalkeeper Aubrei Corder got her hands on but that deflected into the goal.
After neither team was able to score in the overtime sessions, Nebraska was left with a 1-1 draw, but also with a still-unbeaten record atop the Big Ten at 4-0-2. The Huskers are 8-3-3 in all games, and haven’t lost since being beaten at then-No. 14 Duke on Sept. 6.
The Huskers had 17 overall shots and six shots on goal, while Ohio State had nine and five. Corder finished with three saves.
The Huskers will host matches on consecutive Friday nights, starting with Iowa at 7 p.m. this week. Michigan comes to Hibner Stadium on Oct. 12.
