Musicians work contemporary pieces into Needles High School spring concert

NEEDLES — Music lovers will hear some contemporary pieces along with some favorite classic pop-rock and show tunes when the Needles Unified School District presents its traditional spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in the Needles High School auditorium.

The beginning band made up of students from sixth through 12th grades, high school student choir, advanced band of students from seventh through 12th grade and the Blue Notes: Needles’ long-running community jazz band made up of students and Tri-state adults; all perform during the concert. Music Director Justin Carlson joins the Blue Notes as a guest conductor on one piece and playing trumpet on another.
