Raptors Center Miller Suspended

April 4, 1998

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Toronto Raptors center Oliver Miller was suspended for Friday night’s game against the Washington Wizards for ``conduct detrimental to the team.″

Coach Butch Carter did not specify what Miller did to warrant the suspension, but said an incident happened during the team’s stay in Atlanta. The Raptors lost to the Hawks on Wednesday night.

``The conduct was bad enough to support him being suspended,″ Carter said. ``Whatever the conduct was, it needed to stop.″

Miller did not travel with the team to Washington. He instead traveled straight from Atlanta to Philadelphia, where he will rejoin his team for Sunday’s game against the 76ers.

Miller leads NBA centers in assists with 3.1 per game. He is averaging 6.2 points and 6.4 rebounds.

With Miller absent, Marcus Camby moved to center for Friday’s game. Gary Trent started at Camby’s forward spot.
