Lake, Biggs blank O-D in baseball

Preston Lake and Kameron Biggs combined on a three-hitter as Westville blanked Oregon-Davis 8-0 in baseball Friday. Biggs allowed no hits in three innings, fanning four. Jackson Nowatzke drove in three runs and Manny Guevara plated a pair. Lake, Andrew Kreighbaum and Blake Henderson each scored twice.

Adams nips NP girls tennis

Megan Boyd won in straight sets at one singles and Emmy Kirkham/Hannah Pittman pulled out a three-setter at one doubles, but South Bend Adams won the remaining courts to edge New Prairie 3-2 in Northern Indiana Conference girls tennis Friday. The Eagles secured the win with a 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 win over Naomi Paprocki/Brianna Wilson at two doubles. No. 2 Anna Holvoet had to injury default in the second set for the Cougars (9-7, 3-5).

New Prairie softball shuts down Elkhart Central

The Cougars (13-6, 8-2 NIC) scored six runs in the opening inning and rolled to an easy 13-0 win over Elkhart Central on Friday night for their fourth victory in the last five games. Karissa Gilpin threw four no-hit innings and struck out six Blue Blazers. Alyssa Forys had a two-run single

S.C.’s Snyder no-hits Argos

Todd Snyder (2-0) no-hit Argos over five innings while notching two hits, one of them a double, and three RBI in South Central’s 16-0 baseball win Thursday. Carson Husmann homered. Snyder struck out four and walked two and the Satellites (15-4) won their 12th in a row.

NP girls tennis loses tight one to SB Adams

Megan Boyd (6-1, 6-2) the Cougars’ top singles player, and the No. 1 doubles pairing Emmy Kirkham and Hannah Pittman (2-6, 6-0, 6-1), each picked up victories on Friday, but N.P. fell 3-2 to South Bend Adams.

Slicer Athletic Booster Club Golf Outing

Spots remain for teams to play in the inaugural Slicer Athletic Booster Club Golf Outing will be May 19 at Beechwood with lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 1. A registration form for teams and/or sponsorships can be found on the Slicer website at goslicers.com.

La Porte athletic schedule changes

La Porte has added a softball doubleheader at 10 a.m. May 18 at 10 a.m. at Carroll (Fort Wayne). The Slicers’ girls tennis team has added a match at Wheeler at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Blazers’ athletic schedule changes

Marquette and Michigan City softball have rescheduled for 4 p.m. May 17 at City. Marquette girls tennis has added a match at Hammond Gavit at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Today’s baseball twinbill was canceled due to field conditions.

All-Star Basketball tickets on sale at LPHS

A limited number of tickets are available for purchase in the La Porte High School athletic office for the Indiana/Kentucky girls and boys all-star basketball games on June 8 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Cost of a ticket is $15. The girls game will begin at 4 p.m. CDT, followed by the boys game at 6 p.m. La Porte County will be well represented as Slicer Riley Ott, Michigan City’s Hannah Noveroske and Marquette twins Emma and Sophia Nolan will participate.

Slicers JV softball splits pair

La Porte’s JV softball team fell 10-4 at Lake Central on Wednesday. The Slicers’ Nikki Burke went 2-for-4 with a double and triple, and Madison McGuire and Alyssa Bruemmer pitched. On Thursday, La Porte blanked visiting Valparaiso 7-0. McGuire threw a complete game, allowing seven hits. Bruemmer was 2-of-3 with a three-run homer, and Ashlyn Fritzen went 2-for-3.

Owls for Avery Foundation Golf Tourney

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Soccer Camp

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church hosts a soccer camp June 17-June 21. The main camp is for ages 5-12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 17-June 21. The beginners’ camp is for ages 3-4 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 18-21. Cost is $20 per child. (Timely payment of this fee secures your child’s spot.) Registrations and fee payment must be completed by June 1. Space is limited and there’s a cap on the number of participants allowed in each age level.

Each registered and participating child will receive a T-shirt and additional sports item. Participants must bring cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards and water. St. Stan’s 5K June 1

St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church will hold the seventh annual St. Stanislaus 5K run on June 1 at Nelson Park in Trail Creek. Race proceeds will fund needed repairs to St. Stanislaus Church, one of LaPorte County’s oldest Catholic churches.

The race course treks through the beautiful surroundings of Nelson Park and Trail Creek. Unique plaques will be given in eight age divisions for women, men and children, plus the top three overall female and male runners and the top female and male walkers.

Softball travel team needs catcher

The PJM Elite 14U travel softball team is looking for a catcher and would consider an all-around utility player. Players must have been 13 or 14 as of Dec. 31, 2018. The Class C team, based at the Portage Junior Miss Softball Complex, plays a full summer schedule, including NSA and USSSA tournaments.
