Nebraska & Creighton volleyball learn NCAA Tournament fate
The 24-6 Nebraska volleyball team was selected as the seventh overall seed for the NCAA Tournament last night and will host the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center next weekend.
The defending national champion Huskers, making their 37th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, will open the tournament on Friday at 7:00 against the 25-7 Hofstra Pride, champions of the Colonial Athletic Association. The 4:30 match will feature the 23-7 Missouri Tigers of the SEC and the 22-10 Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12. Friday’s winners will meet on Saturday at 7:00. The five-time BIG EAST champion 28-4 Creighton volleyball team earned the ninth overall seed and will appear in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight season, and eighth overall, when it takes on 21-9 South Dakota on Friday at 6:00 at D.J. Sokol Arena. The winner of the Creighton/South Dakota match-up will meet the winner of Friday’s 3:30 match between 19-9 Saint Mary’s and 18-12 Washington. Saturday’s Second Round contest takes place at 7:00.
