Bridgestone MUD to build new $3.8M operations center

November 8, 2018

The Bridgestone Municipal Utility District will choose a contractor to build its new $3.8 million operations and water education center that it expects to be completed in 2019.

Bridgestone MUD services 15 subdivisions along FM 2920 between Stuebner Airline Road and Falvel Road.

“The facility will be built on a new parcel that was acquired in 2017 after reviewing several possible locations within the district,” said Ricardo Martinez, a principal with Martinez Architects.

The new center will be located at 19720 Kuykenhahl Road in Spring, one block east of the current payment processing center, and will be approximately 10,000 square feet once its completed.

The new building will also house a substation for the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

“The anticipated budget for the facility is $3.8 million,” Martinez said.

The district’s eight employees and five board members will be housed in the new location.

The new building will also host an education and research center to inform the public on water consumption and processing, Martinez said.

After the contractor is chosen, construction is anticipated to begin in early 2019 and be completed by the end of the year.
