Nebraska volleyball adds three prep All-Americans
LINCOLN — Three Under Armour first-team All-Americans and a pair of in-state recruits signed with Nebraska on Wednesday.
Outside hitters Madi Kubik and Riley Zuhn and libero Kenzie Knuckles earned All-America honors. Wisconsin and Stanford were the only other programs to sign three first-team recruits.
The 6-foot-1 Kubik, from West Des Moines Valley, is the fourth-ranked overall prospect by PrepVolleyball.com, while the 6-5 Zuhn, from Fort Collins, Colorado, is No. 32 overall. Knuckles, who at 5-8 played outside hitter for a Yorktown, Indiana, team that went undefeated, is the third-ranked libero and No. 37 overall prospect.
The in-state recruits are Lincoln Pius X libero Emma Gabel and Johnson-Brock middle blocker Fallon Stutheit.
Gabel helped lead Pius to the Class A title match last weekend, while Stutheit led Johnson-Brock to three Class D-1 titles. The 6-1 Stutheit owns the D-1 record for kills in a season with 539.
“We feel like we’ve put together a strong class that addresses what we will need to replace after this senior class of Mikaela Foecke, Kenzie Maloney and Brooke Smith graduates,” coach John Cook said.
