Pratella Wins Mint Julep

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Pratella held off Silver Comic by a neck Saturday in the $111,900 Mint Julep for fillies and mares at Churchill Downs.

The 5-year-old daughter of Jade Hunter, with Larry Melancon aboard, ran 1 1-16 miles on the firm turf course in 1:43.08 and paid $6.80, $4 and $2.60.

Silver Comic, winner of last fall’s Grade III Mrs. Revere at Churchill, returned $6.40 and $4. Histoire Sainte paid $3.40 to show.

Owned by Bruce Barton and Alvin Haynes, Pratella won for the first time in two starts this year and fifth in 13 starts on the turf. Pratella earned $69,378 to boost her lifetime total to $426,436.
