LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — A judge is scheduled to rule this week in the case of a man charged with severely beating his 3-month-old son.

The Salem News (http://bit.ly/1MCQ8on ) reports that Lawrence Superior Court Judge Mary Ames is expected to deliver a verdict Monday in the bench trial of 30-year-old Daniel Green.

Green's son was hospitalized in November 2012 with injuries including bleeding on his brain and retinas that caused significant vision loss and developmental delays.

Prosecutors say Green, angry with the baby's crying, either shook or threw the infant while the family was living in a Danvers hotel.

Green's lawyer says there are no witnesses or evidence that implicates Green and the injuries were caused by a condition the premature baby was born with that caused excess fluid on the brain that triggered bleeding.
